Make your voice be heard…VOTE Saturday in the Presidential primary!
We, the People are the real power in this country and Saturday, we get the opportunity to wield that power. There are a lot of people who view primaries as “not real elections,” but they’re almost more important than the general election. If you wait until November, you’re allowing a tiny fraction of the population of South Carolina to dictate your choices for you. In 2010, the primary for state and general elections featured nearly 5 choices for the major offices on the Republican side and 3 or more for a few on the Democratic side, yet sadly, the choices in November were narrowed down to the final two candidates for over 3 million people by a mere 333,000 voters. Have you ever uttered these words,”Well, I guess I’ll pick the lesser of two evils?” If you did not vote in the primary, you have only yourself (and the other near 80% of voters) to thank for the sad choices. Iowa and New Hampshire have followed their historic pattern with woefully low voter turnout, let’s make South Carolina stand out in the nation with a primary voter turnout that rivals or beats a Presidential year general election. In this years Republican Presidential race, South Carolina has become the winnowing barn narrowing the field of candidates down to only 4. Now let’s make South Carolina the show horse, demonstrating how primaries should be done.
Let’s strive to have a 75% turnout Saturday!
