Rides for Strides
Join us on Saturday, June 1st, from 10am-3pm for a fundraiser benefiting a great local charity, Strides Tutoring. Strides is a Christian, non-profit organization with years of success helping bring kids up to grade level or above. When children are failing in school, esp. because of reading, Strides is there to restore hope by employing their unique, specialized program Potentials to teach them how to read and so much more. What is equally impressive is Strides commitment to bringing these fantastic tools to children traditionally left behind, those from low income families. Strides employees a sliding fee scale in order to reach those with the most need and with little hope. This is where you come in. In order to reach as many of the children in need as possible, Strides needs funding to continue to reach those they are reaching now and to expand across the area to be a beacon of hope for all those left behind.
Southern Starr Promotions has put together a fun way for all of us to have a hand in continuing Strides amazing work. On June 1st, we will be riding bikes on the Swamp Rabbit Trail from The Rail Car at Furman to Williams Hardware Cafe in Travelers Rest, a short 3 miles, raising money for Strides. A registration fee of $15 per individual, $50 per family will go directly to Strides and you can get folks and businesses to sponsor you and donate that to Strides as well. This will be a great family friendly way to be active in your community helping insure that all our children are prepared for a bright future.
Another Voice would love to have you join our team or sponsor us for the Ride. Help us have the single largest team of riders, so far we have 5 committed riders, but I am confident that 20 riders all wearing the Another Voice Rides for Strides race bib is something we can do. If you want to ride with us, visit our team page for details. If riding the trail is not something you’re able to do, you can still be involved. Sponsor one of the Another Voice crew as we doing the cycling for you. Each of us will have a page; Eric, Brandon and Jonathan, where you can pledge a set amount of money for each 1/2 mi we complete. Let’s see if we can raise enough money to open a new Strides center in an area of need. It only would take $2000 and we would get to name it.
However you decide to help, let’s all be involved in helping our community through Strides Tutoring.
